Stitch sits at the beach, framed by a tropical sunrise and a palm tree. We chose Stitch because he is a beloved and recognizable character who embodies the spirit of Ohana—family. In Hawaiian culture, Ohana means family, extending beyond blood ties to include close friends and community. As Stitch reminds us, “Ohana means family, and family means no one is left behind or forgotten.” This message reflects the purpose of the competition: coming together to fight hunger and care for those in need.
Our Stitch structure is built from a wide variety of food cans, chosen to offer nutritious and delicious meals. His body is formed with Stop & Shop Wild Caught Chunk Light Tuna in Water, with his stomach outlined using StarKist Chunk Light Tuna in Water. His eyes are made from Wholesome Pantry Organic Cannellini Beans, and his ears from Bumble Bee Thai Chili Wild Caught Tuna. Behind Stitch stretches a colorful tropical backdrop: Goya Black Beans create the ocean, while Del Monte Sliced Bartlett Pears form the rising sun. A palm tree is constructed with Great Value Pork & Beans In Tomato Sauce for the trunk, Del Monte Cut Green Beans for the leaves and grassy beach, and Great Value Mixed Vegetables as structural filler. Above, the sky shines with Dole Mandarin Oranges.
